During a recent online instruction session my student asked me to demonstrate how I would model a plant stand with a round top. He was working from a photo he’d found somewhere of a Dutch Art Nouveau piece from about 1900. At his suggestion I’ve put together a video showing a few of the tips that I showed him. A couple of the key points are these:

• For generally round models, center your model over the origin. This gives you ready references to ensure you are getting the model created correctly.
• Model in place. This will save you time because you can use what you’ve modeled as a reference for the next parts. You don’t need to know all of the dimensions of every part. And you’ll spend less time moving stuff around.

The video doesn’t go into modeling all of the plant stand but I hope you find a few useful things to take away from it.
