In my woodworking I provide a high level of integrity and workmanship in my creations. I believe woodworking is an art in the true sense of old-world artisanship. My true inspiration comes from working a piece of wood into a piece of art.
The details I use to provide this quality include:
Solid wood construction is primarily used to provide durability. Spending extra time on all joinery that pioneer craftsmen used.
The backsides of many pieces today are not worth showing so the piece has to be against the wall. I pay more attention to this area by using better materials and finish so the piece can be moved away from the wall.
Finishing the piece, this is always a big decision. This depends on the use of the piece. When it will be used on a daily basis, a procedure (polyurethane) like Norm Abrams uses works fine. For a finish more like a museum piece, I like the Sam Maloof finish by using a blend of boiled linseed oil, tung oil and varnish with a coat of wax to bring out the warmth of the wood.
I am proud to say my work is made in America.
