Dovetailed Tea Box
This project offers a variety of techniques in a small package.
Synopsis: A study in texture and contrast, this tea box is essentially a box within a box. The outer box is wire-brushed wenge with proud dovetails. The liner is a mitered box made of a smooth, contrasting wood that offers a nice surprise when the box is opened. The base, ebony clasp, and hemp cord add detail and make this box as interesting to touch as it is to look at. Step-by-step instructions on make it easy to cut the joinery and fit the boxes to one another. You’ll also get a tip on how to use magnets to join the halves of the clasp.
For some reason, tea tastes better coming out of a dovetailed box rather than the cardboard box from the grocery store. For me, tea is about taking a break. The time it takes to steep is just as important as the drinking of it.…

Where do you buy the plans for this?
I posted the link above. Sorry about that.
I'd start here: https://www.tauntonstore.com/dovetailed-tea-box-plan.html
Cutting small dovetails in 3/8 thick wenge with a dovetail saw might be the hardest thing ever. Did Mike use his tablesaw method for cutting the tails at least?
I'd put money on it.
I have never purchased plans form Fine Woodworking. Can you print the digital plans.
Yes you can. They print on standard 8 1/2 x 11 paper.
I just download the plans. What scale are the drawings. I do not see one one the plans.
Thanks
I'll email you a reply as well. The plans aren't necessarily to a particular scale, but all of the dimensions you need are provided on the drawings.
In reply to user-7012484, the Digital Plan shows the parts at full size IF you print the PDF with no scaling.
Did Mike use any kind of finish on the Wenge or the Maple?
I just received an email saying this plan was free for Unlimited members. I joined unlimited over a week ago and when I go to download the plan, it says I have to buy it. The same for other plans. Is this and other plans free for Unlimited or not? Thanks, James
Sorry for the confusion. The project/plan article is free, and has all of the dimensions you need to build the project. The printed plans from the Taunton Store are not included in the Unlimited membership.
What finish was used on the Wenge?
