Laura Mays

Laura Mays came from Ireland to the United States to study at the College of the Redwoods in 2003. Three years ago, she took the reins as the director of the Fine Woodworking program. When she’s not teaching, she enjoys woodworking, and hanging out with her partner Rebecca, their daughter Thea, and dog Sid. She says she relishes the dynamic relationship between teaching and her own projects, and the energy that flows in both directions. What question do new students at the College of the Redwoods ask most often? “How do I know when I’m done?”
