Tool Review: Trend Air Stealth P3(r) Half Mask
Rollie Johnson tests out Trend's newest light, comfortable dust mask.
Dust is one of the hazards of woodworking. One way to protect yourself from dust is to wear a mask. But a poor-fitting, uncomfortable mask makes the day long, and if the filtering isn’t efficient, the cumulative effects of breathing dust are harmful to your health.
Trend’s new Air Stealth P3(R) half mask addresses these common problems. It is comfortable to wear for long durations and is very effective. The filters will capture particles as small as 0.3 micron. They also protect against non-oil-based airborne particles, mist, and fumes.
The soft, form-fitting mask fits comfortably, secured by straps that are easy to manipulate. A large hook on the lower strap makes putting on or removing the mask a snap. The mask’s soft material doesn’t contain silicone or latex. It is available in two sizes: S/M and M/L.
I used the mask on a long day of making dust, and my glasses didn’t fog from escaping breath, even in the cool area I was working in. Draining accumulated condensation was as easy as popping out the drain on the bottom of the mask. Lightweight, comfortable, and effective—the perfect trio for a good dust mask.
