An excellent series. Thank you!
Wonderfully erudite with excellent explanations for the various processes involved in planing. However, I am surprised he did not touch on the use of a secondary sharpening bevel (which many experts seem to use these days).
I enjoyed every episode. One more devoted to card scrapers and perhaps the Stanley 80 would be welcome.
Mr. Johnson is natural on camera. His expertise is demonstrated with an easygoing and enjoyable style. I look forward to more!
Greetings Rolland,
I was fortunate to meet you during FWW 2018. Just so happened we were seated around a dinner table for Peter Galbert's reception. This is a great series and full of information and tips from you.
I enjoyed the entire series, learned a lot about vintage planes, and look forward to your next tool or technique video, hopefully in the near future!
What a great series! Clear and concise information on all aspects of finding, buying with confidence, cleaning, tuning and using Stanley planes. I wasnt aware of the usefulness of the 82 so I’ll be on the lookout for one for my toolbox. This series kept me glued to my inbox on Saturdays waiting for the next instalment!
A truly awesome series, Roland. I've been working wood with old hand tools for over 32 years, and I learned a bunch. It reminded me of Frank Klausz' famous saying -- after a whole bunch of years, I think I'm a pretty good beginner!
