Workshop Tip: Use tape to control a drawing batten
When you draw curves with flexible wood battens, blue tape is an easy way to hold them in place.
Like others, I use flexible wood battens to draw smooth curves on templates. I’ve tried holding them in place by hand and some other hilarious solutions, but then I had the idea to use painter’s tape like the string of a bow. I wrap the tape over one end of the stick, and then I hold the tape roll and the other end of the stick with one hand while I draw with the other. That makes it easy to adjust the curve on the fly and then hold it steady for marking.
