Nice Job Chris,
Was that a Disston cross cut saw?
Cheers,
Gary Stoddard
P.S. I miss the hand tool group in Utah!
Sir, where did you buy your dovetail plane ?
I have a Stanley #444
thanks Ralph
Chris uses an Ulmia dovetail plane. They can be found multiple places online.
Ben--would you have any suggestions on where the Ulima planes are sold online? I am not having any luck locating. I do find the ECE. Greatly enjoyed the video. Thanks to Chris for making it.
Hi, Barry here. If you're in Germany, you're in luck. Dictum has the Ulmia dovetail planes in stock: https://www.dictum.com/en/western-wooden-planes-baej/ulmia-dovetail-plane-703800. Dictum ships outside of Germany, but things can get pricey. Sadly, I can't find the plane anywhere else. Hope this helps.
Hello Barry--Thanks for the information. I should have included in my post I am in PA. Thanks though for providing this information. Much appreciated.
Rob
I asked Barry to reply because he recently snagged one... I guess ebay is your best bet. That's what he did.
Hello-Just a final note on the dovetail plane. I contacted Ulmia when I could not fine the plane in their catalog and they told me they no longer made the plane. Thanks
I would recommend scribing a line for the square shoulder, then use a chisel and the guide to pare to the line. This will give a sharper, squarer shoulder so the shelf housing is cleaner.
